As New York Fashion Week is in full swing, Alexander Wang once again takes centre stage with not only an amazing collection, but an after party featuring a half naked Miley Cyrus. His collection consisted of a mix of sporty and tailored styles, including foam-injected leather dresses, in an array of bright colours to grunge palettes. The shoe of the moment was none other than the highly fashionable trainers, set to once again be a big trend of the season.

NYFW: SS15
As New York fashion week ends and London takes off, here is
our roundup of our favourite shows so far.
Alexander Wang put
on a spectacle not only on, but also off the catwalk. This Spring/Summer 15
collection comprised of a mix of sporty and tailored designs with key pieces
including foam injected leather dresses and sneaker influenced garments. His
array of bright colours was contrasting next to a grunge palette for his sleek
designs. The amazing show didn’t stop there; the designer crashed an
underground rave as a post-catwalk celebration with a semi-naked Miley Cyrus in
attendance (if this was any other celebrity, then you may be shocked; but Miley
wearing nothing on her top half other than a pair of ice cream cone pasties is
what one would now describe as ‘normal’ for this singer).
Muted tones, oxblood red, and pink florals were the essence
of Victoria Beckham’s Spring/Summer
2015 collection. This collection consisted of a uniform style of dress with
sharp silhouettes yet still remained to have a feminine edge. Military inspired
jackets were fastened with contrasting leather belts. Ribbed knitted dresses
and sweaters were another key element to VB’s latest collection, as well as
matching sets consisting of tailored shirts and trousers/skirts combinations.
After yet another glorious spectacle of designs, we are even more excited for
the opening of her debut store on London’s Dover Street.
Oscar de la Renta conformed
to all of his signature styles; the femininity, the polished finish, and the
delicate colour palettes. Karlie Kloss’ recent statement perfectly sums up this
talented designer; ‘There is no one on earth who makes a woman feel more
beautiful than Oscar de la Renta’. His latest collection had a youthful feel
with gingham designs in pastels and monochrome, midriff bearing tops teamed
with full skirts, exquisite lace and fringe detailing, and stunningly intricate
floral prints. This display of amazing designs was complimented by a white
catwalk and a flower-covered backdrop, giving us the feeling of living within a
fairy-tale.

Our Hits and Misses of the VMA 2014 Red Carpet
We all know that when it comes to the red carpet at the
VMA’s, no rules apply.
Although there was no gyrating Miley this year - who in fact
opted out of a speech to allow a friend to take the stage and raise awareness
for homeless people in America – we still saw a lot of questionable sights.
Amber Rose caused a state of shock amongst spectators when
she paid homage to the infamous chain dress, first worn by Rose McGowan in
1998. The newly wed star left very little to the imagination, sparking
controversial debates everywhere - would you dare to bare on the red carpet?
However, Amber was not the only star paying homage at this
red carpet event. Katy Perry and rapper Riff Raff brought humour to the awards
by wearing a Britney and Justin style double denim disaster. Hilarious? Yes.
Stylish? No.
We couldn’t believe it either when we saw Miley Cyrus
wearing a rather normal outfit – considering her PVC pants and bra combination
last year. Her all black leather look was definitely a hit on this years red
carpet.
Iggy Azalea looked super fancy in her sparkling silver
Atelier Versace gown, showing off her amazing curves and wowing everyone with
her performances; this Aussie rapper is definitely high up on our list of
favourites.
In typical Kardashian style, Kim, Kendall and Kylie all
attended the event in outfits that showed all three of their amazing figures.
Kim’s signature plunging neckline, Kendall’s sheer black top, and Kylie’s thigh
high split definitely grabbed them their usual attention.
Model, Jourdan Dunn, matched her chic new hairstyle to her
simple yet elegant outfit. With her looking this effortlessly gorgeous, who can
be surprised that she is one of this year’s top earning models?
We couldn’t forget the Queen herself; BeyoncĂ© ticked all of
our boxes at the VMA’s. Glamourous dress? Check. Flawless (and emotional)
performance? Check. All round perfection? Check.

Cara Delevingne for Topshop
Could there be a more fitting face for a top British High street brand, than the British Queen of modelling herself? No, would be my answer to that. Vogue's cover girl Cara will be the first solo face to front the company's Autumn/Winter 14 global campaign, nothing the model isn't used to after previously fronting other British labels such as Mulberry (including a collection of her own bags) and Burberry, not to mention her international campaigns. Here's a little peak at some of the amazing campaign photos.

LJMU Graduate & Plexus Fashion Show
An array of gorgeous colours, exquisite fabrics, flamboyant designs and individual creativity; JMU pulled off another magnificent display!
After taking part in the organisation and running of the yearly fashion show at Liverpool John Moores University, I had to share the photos that I managed to take whilst watching this fabulous show. Donning the catwalk was 14 graduate collections and one organic collection produced by Level 5 students in collaboration with Plexus Cotton, along with the announcement of the winning designer for this competition - Emily Grover.
